Brand New Wedding Website

Hello, I hope you like my new look website. This has been quite a time coming as I have been working with my web people for the majority of the year working on the site. I am now proud to announce that my new site is up and running - and I am extremely proud of it. I appreciate all of your comments and will be running a very exciting competition very soon. In the meantime, I hope you will have an explore around my site and leave any feedback. My website started off with humble beginnings in 2003. I asked my cousin to design it.  It was very simple and got straight to the point! Then in 2010 I decided that I needed a re-design.  This is when I researched web people and decided upon using Hope and Creed .  They offer a friendly, relaxed service and are extremely informative throughout the entire process.   By the end of 2012 I was getting a little bit sick and tired of pink! I loved my website, but it was a website that ONLY showed my wedding hair and make up work

Custom made Hair Acessories just for you

I make hair jewels in both pearl and crystal - these break up your hair if it is one colour as you can see below;  Hair styled in to curls placed at the top of the head with no hair decoration    Same hair style with individual hair pearls placed in to the style   Same hair style with individual hair crystals placed in to the style     As you can see, just a few small clips can really break up the hair and add a bit more definition and interest to your hair.   I make these slides myself and sell them in packs of 3 for £3 or two packs for £5 plus p+p   The pearls and crystals are available in all colours so you can match them up with any decoration you have on your dress and can even order some in for your bridesmaids to match the colour of their dresses.   If you have any questions, or would like to order a few packs please email me at makeupbyamy@talktalk.net   Many Thanks   Amy

Vintage Boudoir in Brighton and Hove

I have blogged about Taboudoir  as I often work with photographer Emma Meston to make over people for their own boudoir shoots. Recently we have had a few clients asking to do vintage boudoir.  These are people who have never sported vintage looks before as they didn't know how to so they have wanted to be completely transformed for their boudoir shoot. We also had a client who dresses in a vintage way and her style is very 1950's so for her boudoir shoot she wanted a 1930's/40's feel for it instead. As the hair and make up artist, I start their transformation in the singstar room at the Hotel Pelirocco I then become stylist to look at their 'wear' that they have brought along to create the look that they are wanting to achieve. They disappear up to which ever room they have chosen to have their boudoir shoot in and Emma creates their look for them. From speaking to each client I have discovered that people have boudoir shoots for many different reaso

Make up artist for John Farrar using Annabelle's Wigs

Once in the studio, John Farrar works a bit like myself - we have a little chat about what we would like to create, not too much planning goes into it, we go into the studio .... and then we create something completely different! I decide on 'Red' so John looks around the studio for clothes and completes the look! In this picture I have used a white bob from Annabelle's Wigs  to complete the look.   John then adds his photo magic and an image is created!   I will soon be writing about what make up I used and how I applied the make up for all of these creations.

make up artist for John Farrar

Yesterday I had the privilege of working with Photographer John Farrar .  I was asked into the studio by Emma Meston of Emmest Photography  and Model Alessandra Gage where we created a few different looks. It was truly a pleasure to be in such wonderful company and I couldn't but help loading up the first picture that John shared with me. hair and make up - Amy Prifti Model - Alessandro Gage Photographer - John Farrar Head Piece - Rachel Sigman Wig - Annabelle's Wigs

Futuristic Make Up Inspiration

I was asked to hold a couple of workshops at Brighton College to inspire their hair dressing students to create hair and make up for their end of year hair show. It is not possible to teach over 50 students how to apply make up in only 2 hours so I sat and demonstrated a few different techniques that would hopefully inspire them. I also had only 1 student to demonstrate 2 looks on so that I could show as many different techniques as possible: Soaped out eyebrows, custom made eyelashes with sequins on them, glitter eyebrows, textured greasepaint make up - glitter lips Soaped out eye brows - draw new eyebrows on. Lots of highlighting and shading - silver lines, glitter dots Sequin eyebrows, custom made eyelashes, colourful splodges with glitter on them, glitter outline to lips Black and silver face - lots of shading and highlighting, glitter streaks, custom made eyelashes, bling If you look back at make up throughout the ages - it is normally the eyebrows

How to design hair and make up for a fashion show

On Saturday 16th I was fortunate enough to be the hair and make up designer for Chrissie Nicholson-Wild for her new Autumn Winter 2013 capsule collection that she was showing off at the Guerilla Fashion Show at the Brighton Arts Centre for her brand 'Curve Couture' I have worked with Chrissie just a few times before so it was really important to get on her wave length with what she was wanting to achieve for the fashion show.  Luckily enough she was happy to give me full artistic range on the hair and make up but there is no point in doing this if it doesn't tie in with the designers theme. When designing hair and make up for someone else it is important to remember who your client is and why they have asked you to work with them - Your hair and make up needs to compliment and complete their look or theme to the best of its ability.  The finished look will never look right if you have gone off on your own tangent and not listened to the designers needs. That said.....

Harry Derbidge Boutique - Harry's World

Thursday was a great fun day spent with Annabelle's Wigs; Harry Derbidge recently got in touch with Annabelle's Wigs with a photo and asked if four wigs could be made up for his shop mannequins in his Boutique in Essex. 'Harry's World' The wigs arrived so we jumped in the car to take them up, style them and to start a new 'hairy' trend with mannequins;                                                Meet Barbara and Wendy - Harry's mannequins with their new hair...... extra high with extra length! Harry checking out the fringe..... he is a happy, happy chappie!                                          Harry asked for two more wigs the same style but in different colours to be made up so that he can change the hair colours from time to time.  Modelled by Harry and Myself ! Who says that work can't be fun?   Harry is such a cutie that he wouldn't let us leave without giving us a little prezzie from his shop..... Love

Getting Married in 2013 ?

OK, so you have probably worked out by now that my business is in Weddings...... So I turn on the news on the 1st of January 2013 for a report to be shared that NO ONE is getting married in 2013 because of its superstitious date! Is this TRUE? Are YOU getting married this year? What is your opinion? According to the news report many venues and businesses are offering special 'deals' to entice those getting married so that they don't postpone their wedding to 2014. Are people REALLY this superstitious that the number 13 will bring bad luck to their marriage? If I, for one was thinking about getting married over the next few years, I would probably bring the date forward and choose to get married in 2013 just to prove people wrong! - That a number will not affect how happy my marriage is, or the longevity of it. And even if I did get married in 2013 and my marriage didn't last, could I really blame the number 13 for this? - surely marriages don't last for
